Season of Discovery in World of Warcraft Classic has fans of the franchise ogling over the nostalgia that the updates bring, but it also gives a whole new take on what we remember about the OG dungeons and raids from Vanilla WoW

Season of Discovery Phase 2 now has a preview showing us what we can expect after its release, and we get a peek at the boss changes, new item sets, as well as updates to the Gnomeregan Dungeon overall.

For those who played during the games initial release, they might remember the horrors that were encased within the Gnomeregan dungeon. From the twisting and turning pathways, forgetting to grab a parachute and falling to their death, or just simply running into the disc room and forgetting what they came there for. The OG dungeon has left its mark on the hearts of Vanilla players worldwide.

Phase 2 of Season of Discovery keeps everything we loved – and may have hated – about Gnomeregan and flips it upside down by adding in new loot and changing up the boss fights just a smidge. Grubbis, the boss that is accompanied by his Basilisk, might have a new mechanic that includes radiation vents, which makes the already tedious boss encounter just a bit harder.

Meanwhile, Crowd Pummeler 9-60 will be moved to an entirely new area within the dungeon completely, and rather than get their faces knocked around in private, players will fight in front of a crowd atop a raised platform.

On top of the bosses getting a mini overhaul, the loot that can drop within Gnomeregan has also gotten a makeover, as old items might not be returning, but items created in their likeness will be. Take the Domesticated Attack Chicken for example, which is a trinket that seems to be a recreation of the Gnomish Battle Chicken engineers could craft way back in the day.

There are several more updates coming with Phase 2 of Season of Discovery, so to check them out, head over to the Blizzard newspage to read them in full.
